WHY DESIGN SPRINTS?


Design Sprints are a methodology that has been long acclaimed. They originate, as a methodology, from Google Ventures, where they organically started using this process, as a way to test ideas faster. There’s also a book written by Jake Knapp, titled just like that, ​​The Design Sprint, in which you can read how it all started and some examples of how and when they used the design sprint.

And, as it usually is the case, organic things don't originate only in one place, the same goes for design sprint. We dare say it was probably a process that, in many different ways, was tested and perfected in software development processes. Around the same time, the folks we admire so much from Design Sprint Academy, have had experiences in running and improving sprints of designing products.

As the design sprint gained traction and a big number of fans, facilitators and companies telling successful stories, it changed and changed, organically, as such processes need to. And we’ll tackle those changes as well.

As part of the program, you will first receive rich insights into the design sprint methodology, and afterwards you will experience actual sprints, while working on real challenges, in teams of 6-7 people.

Catalina is a self made designer, with a strong background in building digital experiences, leading the design and creation of products such as ING’s internet banking in Romania or FIFA WorldCup 2018, as a lead designer in the Romanian Electronic Arts Studio.

She’s been also creating learning experiences in UX Design since 2017, be it as part of Informal School of IT, Romanian Association for UX, in house for companie, or, since 2019, for what is now known as The School of Design which she co-founded and coordinates.

For this course, together with Adelina she designed an experience aimed at giving you the lenses you need to become better at running design sprints and validating solutions faster.

Adelina is a design professional with 7 years of experience in working with digital products, in industries like consulting and banking. She is a certified trainer and has attended highly-rated instructional programs such as Design Sprint Academy’s “Design Sprint 3.0”, “Problem Framing” and “Advanced Facilitation” courses. She describes herself as a curious and restless person, willing to make a difference.

She manages a team of 6 people who partner with other teams to bring to life valuable products and services for Banca Transilvania. With her multidisciplinary team of design specialists, she applies different design processes to ensure the best results.

She is systemic, analytical, solver and maker, explorer and has an interesting mix of skills that brought her to where she is today.
